Ekitike has featured 24 times for the club in all competitions netting 10 goals and grabbing a further three assists.
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe is keen to add attacking talent to his side this summer with his budget expected to be sizeable following the Saudi backed takeover of the club.
January signing Chris Wood has only scored twice since his arrival and Callum Wilson is injury prone so a young striker is believed to be wanted by Howe.
And the Frenchman, who has been compared to Kylian Mbappe, could be one of his top targets this summer.
